Investment Fraud Lawyers and Experienced Securities Arbitration Attorneys
Firm Profile
Furgison Law Group represents individual and institutional investors who have lost money to broker fraud, investment adviser misconduct, breach of fiduciary duty, conflicts of interest, unsuitable recommendations, unauthorized trading, churning, selling away, and misrepresentations or omissions of material facts. We pursue these claims primarily through FINRA securities arbitration, as well as in state and federal court. A significant portion of our work involves retirees and pre-retirees whose retirement savings were depleted by broker misconduct — claims that often qualify for the enhanced remedies available under California's Financial Elder Abuse statute (Welf. & Inst. Code §15600 et seq.).
Furgison Law Group is a boutique firm. Mr. Furgison maintains ongoing of-counsel and co-counsel relationships with experienced securities litigation attorneys in Southern California and across the country, drawing on local expertise wherever a claim arises. He is a member of the Public Investors Advocate Bar Association (PIABA), the leading bar association of attorneys representing investors in claims against the securities industry, and works regularly with PIABA members nationwide. This structure delivers the personal attention of a boutique with the resources to handle complex cases against the largest broker-dealers in the country.
Furgison Law Group works with experienced securities-industry experts to analyze client accounts, calculate damages, and provide expert testimony. We represent investors on a contingency-fee basis — clients pay no attorney's fees unless we recover money on their behalf.
Jon Furgison, Esq.
In 2026, Jon Furgison was elected to the Board of Directors of the Public Investors Advocate Bar Association (PIABA), the leading bar association of attorneys representing investors in claims against the securities industry. Mr. Furgison has been a PIABA member for over twenty years and a member of the State Bar of California for over twenty-five, founding Furgison Law Group to exclusively represent investors in claims against brokerage firms, investment advisers, and other financial industry actors. He has handled hundreds of FINRA, AAA, and former NYSE securities arbitrations involving the full range of products offered to retail investors.
Before founding the firm, Mr. Furgison spent six years as a senior trial attorney at a Los Angeles defense firm that represented brokerage firms, broker-dealers, registered investment advisers, insurance companies, and other industry fiduciaries. He successfully defended these clients at trial and in arbitration. Today he uses that prior defense experience to anticipate the strategies the securities industry deploys against investors — what they will argue, where their weaknesses are, and how to counter their defenses. As Mr. Furgison puts it: "We know how they operate."
Mr. Furgison argued before the California Court of Appeal in Maggio v. Windward Capital Management Co. (2000) 80 Cal.App.4th 1210, obtaining a published decision on issues of importance to securities litigation. He has litigated in state and federal courts across California and the country, with experience in complex business and professional liability disputes, sophisticated theories of fraud, professional negligence, and breach of fiduciary duty. A significant portion of his practice involves elder financial abuse claims on behalf of retirees and pre-retirees who lost retirement savings to broker misconduct — cases that often unlock the enhanced damages and attorneys' fees provided under California Welfare & Institutions Code §15600.
Mr. Furgison holds the highest available peer-review ratings in the legal profession: AV® Preeminent® from Martindale-Hubbell® for legal ability and ethical standards, a perfect 10.0 rating from AVVO, and selection to Super Lawyers® every year from 2017 through the present. He is an active member of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA), the Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC), the American Association for Justice, and the American Bar Association Securities Litigation Committee.
Since 2018, Mr. Furgison has also served as an arbitrator for FINRA Dispute Resolution, presiding over cases involving the same brokerage firms and products he challenges as investors' counsel — work that deepens his understanding of how arbitration panels evaluate evidence and credibility. Outside his practice, Mr. Furgison supports a number of community and education-focused charities throughout the Los Angeles area.
